The Southern Illinois Builders Association (SIBA) represents the contractors who perform the majority of all non-residential construction in the 39 counties of Southern Illinois. It's often said that SIBA members build "everything except private homes" but then some members do build houses. Below is a partial list of the types of construction performed by SIBA members:
Established in 1945, SIBA represents over 450 construction companies throughout Southern Illinois. SIBA is the largest regional contractor association in Illinois.
Contractor members range in size from small, closely-held firms doing less than $250,000 volume per year, up to companies performing several million dollars in volume. It should also be noted that many SIBA firms perform work throughout the United States.
SIBA is also an employer bargaining agent with the major construction crafts in Southern Illinois -- Carpenters, Cement Masons, Laborers, Teamsters, Iron Workers and Operating Engineers. Typically, the agreements cover the 39 Southern Illinois Counties.
SIBA has plans rooms available to its members at two office locations (O'Fallon and Marion) for estimating purposes. Members have access to the plans rooms 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Weekly Bidders News service, which is sent to all members, tracks over 1,500 projects per year in Southern Illinois.
SIBA is a full service Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America serving contractors assisting in the areas of labor relations; safety; education; construction development; EEO; and representation with awarding agencies.
